An adjustable band is placed around the upper part of the stomach to create a small pouch.
Thin tubing connects the band to an access port that is located below the skin.
Through the access port, the Lap-Band is adjusted by inflating or deflating the inner balloon with saline.
As the Lap-Band inflates, the stomach outlet becomes smaller.
The Lap-Band helps reduce the amount of food that you eat and slows emptying into the lower stomach.
